Responding to the Paradigm Shift in Worldwide Manufacturing

Responding to the Paradigm Shift in Worldwide Manufacturing

A revolution in the manufacturing process is taking place as, for example, the U.S. and Europe make the manufacturing process progressively “smarter” through the introduction of sensors and information technology.  The JMF is seeking to find ways in which this manufacturing revolution can strengthen the competitiveness of domestic manufacturing.  To this end, the JMF has, in 2014, begun to develop recommendations for global strategies for Japanese manufacturers.   The JMF will examine the direction that the paradigm shift in manufacturing will take, as well as the technologies that will bring about this revolution in making things, and identify the manufacturing technologies and processes that should be focused on in order to further enhance Japan’s strengths in the future.  Recommendations for global strategies for the various factors that support these technologies, such as supporting technologies, systems, and personnel policy, will also be developed.
